Map Maker Pro has been developed by its creators in such a way that even novices can learn easily how to use the program to create their own maps, but all functions experienced cartographers need are also included, keeping pace with today's fast changing computer and printer technology. This version of the program is not simply an update of previous versions, but is a carefully developed and powerful, new map-making program that has evolved to meet the demands of today and in response to users of previous versions. The Map Maker Pro's smart interface provides all the functions needed for vector, raster and GPS data manipulation. The program now features more flexible fill and line styles and automatic generation of legends from style sets is possible and you can use an unlimited number of layers and symbol fills too. Maps can be created from new or imported data as the program is compatible with a wide range of vector data like ArcView SHP, AutoCad DXF, Ordinance Survey NTF, and your completed maps can be exported to Microsoft Access, Excel, dBase, etc. Map Maker Pro now uses Microsoft's ADO and ADOX technology to link to Access and the program can use Access and Excel tables or spreadsheets to link to a map. In relation to GPS, Garmin and NmEA formatted data can be collected live and files can be imported in a variety of GPS formats allowing downloading of waypoints and tracks. Also, GPS control points can be used to rectify aerial photographs. The program includes a free viewing program, Map Maker Gratis that you can use for distribution purposes, for viewing your maps, and that can also be used as an elementary annotation program.
